The Need for Stress Treatment

The numbers of those who suffer from stress, anxiety or related issues in the United States are currently higher than they have been in decades. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, approximately 42 percent of young Americans used a recreational drug like marijuana or alcohol to relieve stress. Too often, this only compounds the problem, adding substance abuse to the list of issues that cause stress.

Alleviate Mild Stress Naturally

If you are living with mild stress or occasional stress, you don’t necessarily need formal mental health therapy, stress treatment or medication. Beginning an exercise regimen can help, as can changing to a more healthful diet and getting a good night’s sleep. Some herbal supplements are recommended as well, but consult with a doctor before taking anything. If making simple changes like this don’t work for you after a few months, stress treatment may be appropriate.
